Rev. Vernon C. Miller
                &                      1st Lady Priscilla Miller

Rev. Vernon C. Miller is a native of Rice, Va.  He is the son of Susie Cooks and the late Roosevelt Cooks.  Rev. Miller graduated in 1983 from the Prince Edward County School system in Farmville.  Prince Edward County was part of the Brown vs the Board of Education Supreme Court lawsuit to integrate public schools.  In May 1988 Rev. Miller graduated from Virginia Union University with a BS Degree in Sociology.  Rev. Miller also attended Palmer Theological Seminary, Eastern School of Christian Ministries in Easton, PA.  
While attending Virginia Union University, he met his wife of 34 years, the lovely Priscilla M. (Freeman) Miller.  From this union four beautiful children were born Tamara (Dave), Marcus (Kendra), Jackson and Brandon.  And he currently has one grandchild, Miles Henry.  In 1990, Rev. Miller and his family joined the New Light Baptist Church in Bloomfield, NJ.  While at New Light Rev. Miller was involved in several ministries until he heard the call of God to preach the Gospel.  Rev. Miller preached his initial sermon on July 2, 2002, and was licensed by the New Light Baptist Church.


On November 10, 2004, Rev. Miller was ordained by the New Light Baptist Church where the late Rev. Dr. William C. Hall, his spiritual father and mentor was the pastor.  In 2006, Rev. Miller was appointed Assistant to the Pastor and on November 9, 2008, Rev. Miller was installed as the Pastor of the New Light Baptist Church, his beloved uncle, Rev. James J. Miller formerly of Peaks Baptist Church located in Prospect, Va.  Rev. Miller is presently serving in his 15th year of Pastor and People.

Rev. Miller is a member of the United Missionary Baptist Convention of NJ, where he is serving in the role of 1st Vice President and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Association, where he served as treasurer.  Presently, Rev. Miller serves as treasurer of the Baptist Minister’s Conference of Newark and Vicinity.  


While at Virginia Union University, Rev. Miller joined the distinguished Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  He is currently an active member in the Alpha Alpha Lambda Graduate Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha located in Newark, NJ.  The Premier Chapter.


In October of 2021, Rev. Miller retired from the State of New Jersey Probation Services after 32 years as an Intensive Supervision Program Officer.  Rev. Miller’s favorite scripture is Hebrew 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”.
